About ALAEHOur Mission:
The Alabama Alliance to End Homelessness works to alleviate homelessness
and foster housing stability.
We are many. ALAEH is a network of homeless service providers, community leaders, researchers, and advocates, all united in our vision to prevent and end homelessness in Alabama. For almost ten years, we have helped to strengthen the state’s response to homelessness, in our largest cities and in our most rural areas.
We know that homelessness is a problem with a solution. Communities around country are advancing key strategies to reduce the number of people who are homeless—work we are taking on in Alabama, as well. These strategies focus on permanent solutions – getting homeless people off the streets and into permanent housing—and preventing homelessness before it occurs. This approach not only improves the lives of people experiencing homelessness, but is also cost effective and makes economic sense.
We believe in the power of collaboration. Whether its through ALAEH’s role with statewide public entities like the Governor’s Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Alabama Commission to Reduce Poverty, statewide partnerships with organizations like the Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama or its ongoing commitment to homeless providers through the eight Continuums of Care across Alabama, ALAEH is working toward alleviating homelessness and fostering housing stability for all Alabamians.
We welcome you. Whether you are new to work in homelessness or a seasoned professional, we invite you to join with us in the work ahead.
Welcome to ALAEH!
